It is with great pleasure that I invite you on behalf of the Committee of Management to the opening of 21 Living Icons.

To help celebrate our 21st year of offering arts and entertainment in our annual subscription season we invited the community to nominate someone who had made an outstanding contribution to the arts in Northern Tasmania. A Selection Panel selected 21 people who had made contributions which were both wide ranging and lasting in their impact. Our Icons were then asked to select a character from a well known work of art and be photographed as that character for this portrait series.

The Selection Panel was chaired by the Hon. Rosemary Armitage MLC. With members Sarah Courtney MP and Damon Wise (Chair Festival of Voices, Deputy Chair Junction Arts Festival), they had a very difficult task as all the nominations were outstanding. The final list includes: Liz Bennett, Ian Clayton, Gary Cleveland, Margaret East, Michael Edgar, Danny Gibson, Annie Greig, Peter Hammond, Jeff Hockley, Jacqueline Horne, Belinda King, John Lohrey, Mary Machen, Michael McWilliams, Graeme Murphy, Peter Quigley, Denise Sam, Ray Sangston, Kim Schneiders, Diane Summers, and Matthews Tyson.
